Fall in the air!

It has definitely felt like fall in North Carolina this last week! No more A/C, jackets at night, pumpkin spice lattes, and lots of rain. While I could do without the days of rain, I’m loving the rest of it 😊 So fun to pull out the sweaters and boots!

Speaking of sweaters, I picked up some great fall pieces a few weeks ago on the famous #NSale–Nordstorm’s famous annual anniversary sale where new fall pieces are available at discounted prices before they go on sale at regular prices. I’ve heard of it for years but had never shopped it, so this was my year and I was defintely impressed. This cardigan and tunic are both NSale finds, and I can’t wait to wear mix them in different ways this year.

Radio silence

Hi friends, I apologize for my internet silence lately. The semester/orchestra year is in full swing and days are busy! My handsome photographer has been out of town with work, so we haven’t been able to shoot blog photos the last couple weeks. Hopefully next week we’ll have some posts ready to go! I love dressing for fall…the sweaters, the layering, the boots. Sigh.

Hope all is well and you’re enjoying the beautiful late summer/early fall!

Bag loving

This post was originally going to be about this cute dress which I’ve loved this summer (so comfy!), but instead I have to talk about this bag I picked up yesterday. Target is having a 25% clothing, accessories, everything sale this weekend, so I waited to finally pick up this lovely I had my eye on.

Buying faux leather bags at a low price point can be hit or miss, but I have found some beuatiful ones over the years by looking carefully. Not all inexpensive “leather” bags are created equal, so hunt around! Look for a realistic texture and good detailing. The hardware should be elegant and well-made and mimic more expensive versions. Avoid fake logos and metal plates that might make the bag look cheap, and check for a zipper that works well!

P.S. How lovely is this little park just down the street? Greensboro has so many beautiful green spaces.

Bright idea

Since summer decided to make one final grand appearance here this week, it seemed only fitting to pull out a summery outfit one more time! As much as I’m craving fall clothes, boots, layers, and pumpkin spice lattes, there are a few summer pieces I’m always sad to goodbye to. Especially summer dresses…

This gorgeous blouse was one of my best finds this year–a 100% silk J. Crew blouse for next to nothing at a local consignment store. I’m loving silky oversized blouses this year, and I’ll be looking for ways to wear this one in the winter.

Brick red

Sorry for the blog silence the last few days! Last week was the first week of the new school year…woohoo! So fun to see all of my returning students and meet my new ones. Last weekend, we had family in town from DC and had such a wonderful visit.

I picked up these pants on sale a few weeks ago mainly because I need more pants for the days when I’m on the floor teaching little ones. It’s a bit difficult to maneuver in a dress and I get tired of black pants. I was surprised how much I’ve already enjoyed wearing these, though. They fit like a dream and they’re a fun and different addition to my closet.
