Love the beautiful stripes in the dress! Not only the colors, which are some of my favorites, but the beautiful way they’re angled and used in the design. I actually bought this dress for a shower my dear friend gave me before our wedding this spring, and I’m loving this dress more than ever this summer. Puts a little swing in my step!

Summer haze
The first couple of days this week were the very best kind of summer North Carolina days. The temperature only climbs into the 80s, a lovely breeze blows through windows, and the sun shines gorgeously in a bright, blue sky. Today, however, was a different story. It was HOT. Hot in the house, hot in the car, hot and humid everywhere you went! Felt like Texas! On those days, the only thing to do is put on a breezy dress, add some cute extras, and grab an iced coffee to keep you company.
P.S. Feel like I have to mention that this dress ended up being a sweet, sweet gift from my hubs. Best surprise ever! Forgive me…newlywed, you know. 😉

Gingham style
Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We had dear friends in town to visit, so ours was lovely. The weather cooled off, too, which just topped it off!
Gingham is one of those delightful prints which comes and goes every few years, and this year there are so many fun, fresh takes on this pattern. It’s a classic that always manage to look undeniably chic. Just look at photos of Jackie Kennedy in gingham check…still gorgeous 50 years later. This top is easy to wear and versatile–pairs easily with white jeans or shorts, or could also be tucked into a skirt for a dressier look. Have you picked up any gingham pieces this year?

Shoulder game
If you’ve opened a magazine, read a blog, or walked into a store lately, you have seen the off-the-shoulder trend. It’s everywhere! Off-the-shoulder tops and dresses have become the biggest statement of the spring and summer, looking fresh and feminine. I’ll admit though, it’s been hard to find one that felt right for me, so this is my first purchase for myself. I saw this dress on multiple other girls and thought it was darling and a great take on the denim trend.

P.S. My darling hubby/photographer is teaching at a camp all week so these photos were my first attempt at self-blogging pics. Excuse the blurriness in my learning curve!
Boho vibes
This tunic top became a favorite of mine late this spring. It’s flowing, swingy and entirely fun to wear! It makes me automatically feel a little more cool and hip 😉 It could easily be worn with cream/off white jeans for a trendy white-on-white look, or with a darker wash jean and booties or wedges, which is how I’ve worn it in the past. For these pics, I paired it with fun distressed jeans for a relaxed summer boho vibe.
P.S. Funny story about this one. On our way back from our wedding in Texas at the first of May, we miraculously got a day in Chicago thanks to maintenance issues with our plane and Delta Airlines’ generosity. The only problem with this unplanned stop was that I definitely had not packed any clothes for 40 degree weather! This top was the only thing in my suitcase that even had sleeves! So this easy, breezy tunic and a large scarf from an airport shop were my entirely out of place outfit on a chilly Chicago day with everyone around me probably saying, “tourists…” Ha!

I’m back!
After disappearing for the 9 busiest months of the year (and getting married!!), I am back! I’ve missed posting so much! Hope you all have had a wonderful year so far and are looking forward to the summer.
I picked up this skirt on Loft’s 50% sale the other day and have already worn it several times. I love the print and colors and how versatile it is to style. I’m planning to do a 3 Ways post soon showing 3 different ways to style this piece. Being able to wear a item several ways is one of my favorite ways to maximize my purchases and get creative with styling.
This outfit is the most formal way I’ve styled this skirt and would be perfect for the office, work or a daytime event.
